Local Area Information - Bellevue

Only a matter of decades ago, Bellevue was a small stop along the highway, surrounded by strawberry fields. Since its incorporation in 1953 it has grown to over 103,000 residents and is now the fourth largest city in Washington. With its multiple office high rises, today it is a bustling metropolis in its own right--many people, in fact, commute from Seattle to work in Bellevue.

From Bellevue it is also a brief 10-15 minute commute to Seattle across either the Interstate 90 bridge to the south or the Highway 520 bridge to the north. In Bellevue itself, a major business center of the Eastside, you'll find numerous office complexes, major retailers, hotels, and first class restaurants. Bellevue is, in fact, among the highest income cities in King County.

Founded in 1869, Bellevue is an intentional mix of urban space and natural beauty. Shopping centers such as Factoria, Crossroads, and Eastgate, as well as the popular Bellevue Square, draw shoppers from around the greater Seattle metropolitan area. Besides local parks, Bellevue also boasts a thriving arts community and excellent schools.
